Jan Dressler & Molly

Hi, I'm Jan Dressler!

A lifelong learner, entrepreneur, creative genius, free spirit, teller of tales, creator of dreams, and of course, always and forever, an artist!

I am a native of the beautiful Pacific Northwest and live on 15 acres of woods and streams just outside of Seattle. Two Old English Sheepdogs (Gladys and Molly), and a huge garden keep me active, otherwise I would simply sit in my design studio and venture down creative rabbit holes!

My Life-Long Journey In Design

I started my artistic journey as a child building award winning “floats” for the local summer childrens’ parades in Seattle. In high school I began hand building clay “Janimals” which were a hit, and started me o my entrepreneurial journey. I sewed everything from clothing to handbags. I made elaborate costumes that won prizes.  I just kept on creating.

Then n the late 80’s, I was drawn to the art of stencils. I took an immediate interest creating complex multiple-overlay stencil designs and began a 25 year journey. I designed, manufactured and distributed my extensive line of laser cut stencils and employed 25 people to get the stencils out the door. Appearances on HGTV, Discovery, and DIY propelled my career and solidified my business as a globally recognizable top-selling stencil company.

When I retired, I took time to learn to weld, build, and garden. But after 12 years, I realized that something was missing, and I finally figured out what it was.

I needed to get back into drawing and creating.

I have a a treasure trove of stencil patterns which have found new life in surface pattern design. My cranium of curiosities is constantly poked and prodded, spinning out unique and engaging threads that I weave into my patterns,

In the autumn of life, my journey continues…
