In Swahili, the main language of East Africa, “safari” means to journey, and over the years millions have journeyed to the countries of East Africa and beyond. I have been fortunate to journey there as well, loving the beautiful country full of hard working people who are so happy to share their amazing land with others.
There are many national reserves to keep the animals safe and preserve their habitat. The Hifadhi Collection consists of patterns that exemplify the colors, textures and design elements of the three park and the neighboring communities.
In Kenya the animals reign supreme because the people have made it their priority to preserve and protect them. To observe the marvelous beasts in their habitat is a gift that the amazing people of Kenya have provided to us all.
The Great Migration is a journey by millions of zebra, gazelle, and wildebeest who migrate 1800 miles yearly between the Serengeti in Tanzania and Masai Mara in Kenya to graze. They return to the Serengeti to give birth. It is truly inspiring to see how they all get along with one another, even alerting other species when there are predators about.
This journey is truly a life changing experience and I have created this collection from my own photos and memories.
